1. PUBG, Game for peace crosses $1.5B in global revenue- 

Tencent's popular Battle Royale game PUBG and its latest Chinese rebranded version Game for Peace have earned $1.5 billion in revenue globally since launch. The mobile version of Players Unknown Battle Grounds popularly known as PUBG is one of the most played Battle Royale games. PUBG was more popular in China than in any country, attracting over 70 million daily players it was one of the most played games. But after failing to get regulatory approval from authorities PUBG was banned and Tencent introduced Game for Peace in China. After its launch, revenue is touching new heights. 

China`s most popular Battle Royale "Game for Peace" aka Peacekeeper Elite generated total revenue of $614 million on Apple`s China App store making close to 41% of total revenue ($1.5B).

The total contribution of the US was $293 million across the App Store and Google`s Play Store making close to 20% of the total revenue. Japan was ranked 3rd with a contribution of $117 million.  

Other highest-grossing battle royale games were NetEase`s Knives Out (revenue of $915 million across App Store and Play Store since its November 2017 launch) and Microsoft`s battle royale Fortnite generated $838 million from just Apple`s App Store since its March 2018 launch.

2. Android 10 supported smartphones-

Android 10 was officially out in September this year with some bunch of upgrades from its predecessor Android Pie. Pixel smartphones were the first to get this update and OnePlus 7T was the first smartphone with Android 10 preloaded. Smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, Samsung, Realme, and Nokia are planning to upgrade their new smartphones to Android 10. OnePlus 7 and 6 series have already received this update.

Xiaomi Redmi K20, Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy M30s, and Galaxy M20 is already running on the latest Android version. Galaxy M40, Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy S9, Realme 5 Pro, Realme XT, Realme 3 Pro, Realme X2 Pro, and Nokia 5.1 will receive Android 10 updates in the First Quarter of 2020.

Android 10 offers features like Dark mode, Live video caption, Smart reply, Sound amplifier, Gesture Navigation, Faster security updates, and much more interesting stuff.


3. Google Interpreter mode-

After the successful launch of Google Interpreter in smart speakers like Google Home and smart displays, Google is now planning to launch this service for smartphones also.

Interpreter mode is a tool by Google that can you in translating your conversations in real-time. It will arrive on both Android and iOS devices in the coming days. Interpreter mode works along with Google Assistant to help you in the translation of your native language to any foreign language.

You can activate this mode by giving commands like "Hey Google, be my Thai translator" or "Hey Google, be my Hindi translator". Google says it currently works with 44 supported languages. Google uses Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing to translate.

Interpreter mode can translate speeches for you and can also read them aloud for you. The interpreter also comes with a smart reply function, which helps you to speed up your conversation by automatically suggesting relevant answers. This tool is a must-have for travelers. 


4. Apple Card-

Apple just launched a plan that lets Apple Card users buy an iPhone on Easy Monthly Installments (EMI) with zero interest. Apple Card users say that Apple does not want to lose their potential customers and that`s why they`ve launched this service so that customers can pay in EMI`s.

Customers can purchase an iPhone in 24 month`s EMI. Apple`s long term plan is to make upgrading to a new iPhone easier than it was before and harder to leave the Apple ecosystem.

The Apple Credit Card does not charge any penalties even if you pay your EMI`s late. It is also offering a 6% back if you purchase your iPhone from Apple Store through Apple Card.


5. What`s App to stop working on these smartphones-

The next update comes from a popular messaging app called What`s App. What`s App recently said that the app will no longer work in old smartphones from 1st January 2020.

What`s App recently withdraw its support from older OS platforms. Windows phones will not support What`s App from 1 January 2020. Android 2.3.7 and iOS 8 devices will not support What`s App from 1st February 2020.

What`s App keeps on adding new features in its every update. Developers keep in mind the new Android version and based on that they withdraw their support from old OS devices that are roughly used by anyone. 

What`s App will not work on Windows phones from 1 Jan and if you`re using any windows phone, you`ll not be able to send or receive any message. 

All devices that are running on Android 2.3.7 or older and iOS 8 or older will not support What`s App from 1 Feb.


6. Redmi K30 and K30 5G unveiled-

The much-awaited successor of Redmi K20 made its debut in China this week. The Redmi K30 has a 6.67-inch display punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels, 91% screen to the body ratio, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The device is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Redmi K30 comes with a 2.2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 730G SoC and runs on Android 10 based MIUI 11. It comes with a non-removable battery of 4500 mAh a 30W fast charger that can fully charge this in just 60 mins.

The back houses a Quad-camera setup of 64 MP Sony IMX 686 sensor (f/1.89) + 2 MP (f/2.4) + 8 MP (f/2.4) + 2 MP (f/2.4). The front holds a dual-camera setup of 20MP + 2MP.
Redmi K30 supports both 4G and 5G variants. The 5G variant is powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor based on 7Nm technology.

The Redmi K30 4G variant is priced at $227 (Rs 16,100) for 6GB/64GB, $241 (Rs 17,100) for 6GB/128GB, $270 (Rs 19,100) for 8GB/128GB, and $312 (Rs 22,100) for 8GB/256GB variant.

Redmi K30 5G variant is priced at $284 (Rs 20,100) for 6GB/64GB, $326 (23,100) for 6GB/128GB, $370 (Rs 26,100) for 8GB/ 128GB and goes upto $412 (Rs 29,100) for 8GB/256GB. Redmi K30 will be available in Deep sea light, Time Monogolue, Purle jade fantasy, Flower shadow.

7. Oppo Reno 3 & Reno 3 Pro 5G launch-

Reno 3 is an upcoming smartphone from Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo. The smartphone will a 6.40-inch display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels.

Oppo Reno 3 will be powered by Snapdragon 735 SoC and will have a 4500 mAh battery pack with VOOC 4.0 fast charging technology. Reno 3 is rumored to have a Quad-camera setup of 48MP primary camera, 8MP secondary camera, 2MP third camera, and 2MP fourth camera. It will come with a 16MP selfie camera. All basic sensors will be available.

Oppo will also launch a 5G variant of Reno 3. From the promo material, we can estimate that it will come with a punch-hole display with a 90Hz refresh rate. 

Reno 3 Pro 5G will have a 64MP Rear-camera and will come storage options of 8GB/128GB, 12GB/128GB, and 12GB/256GB. Reno 3 Pro 5G will use Mediatek`s dimensity 1000L SoC.


8. Realme Air Bud-

Realme`s Air Bud`s have been getting a lot of attention. The Air Buds have developed a lot of interest among people as they are similar to Apple Air pods 2. Air Buds are similar in design and offer similar features like double-tap to play or pause music. Price is going to be the main difference but I`m pretty sure Air buds will easily beat Air Pods. Air Buds will be priced around $70 or Rs 4999 in India.

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed that Air Buds will come with wireless-charging support just like their rival Apple Air Pods 2. Realme India has been promoting Air Buds by quoting Seamless connectivity. Air Buds will be using custom made R1 chip for seamless connectivity.

Air Buds are going to launch in the "Hate to Wait" sale that will commence at 2 pm on 17 December on their official website and Flipkart.
